Telling Stories

I’m a reporter in Los Angeles, California who loves finding unusual stories that have an impact on the entire community. I’m currently covering state and federal courts in LA.

‘Telling a story' is about more than just putting facts to paper and making sure names are spelled correctly — it's a craft. Each word in a story has to be carefully chewed, swallowed and digested for meaning and purpose. A journalist has a duty to tell someone's story thoroughly, accurately, fairly and engagingly.

I've won several awards in the past couple of years from the Virginia Press Association for my stories about issues affecting public safety and community wellbeing, as well as a package of long-form features.

When I'm not writing, my nose is probably in a book or I'm listening to an NPR or WNYC podcast (read: learning how to interview as well as Anna Sale). I also spend time on the yoga mat, trying to touch my toes without bending my knees.
